Self-Serve Password Change – User Guide

 

Please note: All users receive email notifications called “Password Expiry Notification” 14, 7, and 1 day(s) before the password expires.

**If you are unable to log in to VPN or Citrix or remote in to your computer using MobiKey, please contact IT at ithelp@rcdso.org or plpsupport@plpservices.org respectively or call 416-961-6555 Ext 5606. **

 

How to change passwords for VPN users:

This applies to users who have a dedicated laptop assigned to them. 

** If you are a user using a loaner or temporary laptop to remote into your work computer, follow the instructions in the next section. **

  1. Log into your Windows account and then log into VPN.
  2. Once you have logged into VPN, press Ctrl + Alt + Del. This should bring up the Controls menu.
  3. Select “Change a password”.

 


 

      4. Enter the following information in the fields show:

  • Username – should automatically be filled
  • Old Password – enter your current password
  • New Password – enter a new password which must contain:
  • 12 characters minimum in length.
  • At least 1 number.
  • At least 1 uppercase AND 1 lowercase alphabet
  • At least 1 symbol/special character. Ex: @, #, $ or a space.
  • Confirm Password – Type the new password again

      5. Press the Enter key once you have typed in all the information requested. 

      6. If all information is correct and meets the requirement, the password change will complete successfully. 



How to change passwords for Citrix and RDP users:

  1. Log into the appropriate service
  • Citrix – Log into Citrix using your username, password and RSA token.
  • RDP - VPN into our network using your loaner/temporarily provided laptop using Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.

      2. Connect to your work computer:

  • Citrix – Click on Windows Explorer and launch Citrix Receiver/Workspace and remotely access your computer.
  • RDP - Run the "Remote Desktop Connection" program to remote into your computer at work.

      3. Once you have remoted into your computer, press Ctrl + Alt + End (Ctrl + Option + Delete on a Mac). This should bring up the Controls menu.

      4. Select “Change a password”.

 

 

      5. Enter the following information in the fields show:'

  • Username – should automatically be filled
  • Old Password – enter your current password
  • New Password – enter a new password which must contain:
  • 12 characters minimum in length.
  • At least 1 number.
  • At least 1 uppercase AND 1 lowercase alphabet
  • At least 1 symbol/special character. Ex: @, #, $ or a space.
  • Confirm Password – Type the new password again

      6. Press the Enter key once you have typed in all the information requested. 

      7. If all information is correct and meets the requirement, the password change will complete successfully. 

 


How to change passwords for MobiKey users:

      1. Plug in the Mobikey and enter the password to unlock the device. 

      2. Connect to the host device shown on the host list and type in your username and password. 

      3. Once you have logged in to your profile, press the "Send Ctrl+Alt+Del to host" button.


 


      4. Select “Change a password”.

 

 

      5. Enter the following information in the fields show:'

  • Username – should automatically be filled
